Hot in the Mountains

Oh boy, it is a hot one out there even at 3,800 ft.  The puppies are spending their day indoors except for a few potty breaks.

Today they are sacked out on the floor - the carpet is just way too hot.  Here are all three fosters.  Bear is the yellow lab available from Mikey's Chance.  Visit their website www.mikeyschance.com for information on BEAR and to request adoption applications.

Kenai and Sitka are sacked out.  As you can see, they are shepherd mixes and will be fairly good size dogs.  They are fluffy and feisty.  They don't care to be held, so we are working on not wiggling and SCREAMING when we are held.  Today I clipped their nails and had no trouble with either of them.  When I talk to Sitka (pink collar), her little head moves back and forth as if she is listening to every word I say.  So cute.  Kenai is a mellow pup.  He loves to explore.  He is confident and not intimidated by the big dogs.  He is interested in the cat, but respectful.
I was trying to do a size comparison in this one, but she looks bigger than him which is definitely not the case.  He is going to be a big dog.  But he is a sweet, sweet boy.
Stay cool out there....

Summer 2013

We have started summer here at 3 Legged Dog Ranch.  With it comes puppies!  Thank you Mikey's Chance for once again providing some much needed happiness with two adorable shepherd mix puppies.  One girl (Sitka - pink collar) and one boy (Kenai - blue collar).  These two babes are about five weeks old now and still have some time to go before they will be ready for adoption, but they won't last long.  Especially little Sitka (Roxy) who may find a forever home here at the ranch.  Of course, summer goes along and things change and puppies come and then go to great homes so make sure if you want one of these  fabulous babes you get an application in.  See mikeyschance.com for application procedures.

Here they are.  No trouble at all.  Last year there were 8, so two seems totally manageable.  Right now anyway:)

Sitka - her tail curves over, so I am thinking maybe some husky?

Kenai is quite a bit bigger than his sister with HUGE feet and a BIG HEAD.  You can really see the curl in Sitka's tail in this picture.
Hard to get pictures of them when they are running all over the place, so here they are after play.
Sitka...
 Kenai...
...and yes, I climbed over dining room chairs to get these pictures!

Stay tuned.
